Here at Of The Sea, we believe the truest expression of anything is possible only when done in love. It happens to be one of our core values and driving forces of our business. Acting in love requires generously focused investment of our time, talent, and treasure. One of our expressions of love is generosity. Because of this, we are not only devoted to giving our time to our stellar clients, but we are devoted to investing in the greater good. Which is why we believe that everyone deserves clean drinking water.
Let Them LOL
Let Them LOL is a local organization in Buffalo that aims to provide clean water to communities without. When the founders learned that nearly 1 billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water and that everyday 4,000 children die from water related disease, they decided to do something.
Created in October of 2009, Let Them LOL was able to raise enough funds in the first six weeks for their first clean water well in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Within a year, they were able to build 12. As of December of 2017, 105 wells are complete, which has brought clean water to more than 42,000.
Along with clean water, the organization provides care to more than 35 children as well as education to 405 impoverished children at their school, Hope Rising Academy. They provide job training and empowerment through agriculture projects as well as food for the children they care for. LOL plans to build a medical facility, latrines, and engender additional community development.
Of the Sea and LOL
At Of the Sea, we believe our vision and vitality come from having love for each other and for helping others. As a result, we choose to be a part of the Let them LOL story. We believe in their commitment to empowering communities through sustainable development.
So what does that look like for us? It looks like volunteering our time, meal packing, hanging up posters for their annual 5K. It’s committing to sponsoring children, the building of wells, and whatever else the organization needs. We commit to being a community here for a community there.
